Construction of new hotels, entertainment venues, convention spaces, and stadiums are in the pipeline to boost the number of tourists in Southern Nevada. Visitor volume increased by 1.2% because of higher weekend and midweek occupancy. Convention attendance was roughly 514,000 people. Growth was due to gains in small and mid-sized meetings.

For the past several months, the average weekly wage had been $914. This month, however, it increased to $988. Gov. Steve Sisolak said that even if there was a slight increase in the unemployment rate, it continues to remain the lowest rate since July 2006.

“With employment continuing to grow at a steady pace and the unemployment rate remaining relatively low, Nevada continues to have a stable labor market”, said David Schmidt, Chief Economist for DETR.
